Goodland Joins Grand Prairie: A New Era for Our Growing Community

Published December 10, 2024

We’re thrilled to announce that 1,500 acres of the new home community Goodland has officially been annexed into the City of Grand Prairie, marking a monumental step for our community. This historic annexation extends Grand Prairie’s southern boundary and brings Goodland into the city’s fold.

With a growing list of places to go and things to do — including planned shops, restaurants, gathering spaces, trails, a stocked pond, preserved green spaces and a calendar of year-round events — Goodland is being designed as a “city within a city” where residents can enjoy the charm of small-town living without sacrificing convenience. Located south of US 287 in Ellis County, Goodland will eventually feature over 10,000 architecturally diverse residences with a focus on community connections and preserving the environment.

“This is a significant step in our city’s development,” said Grand Prairie Mayor Ron Jensen. “Unlike many of our neighboring cities, we have the unique advantage of new development opportunities to our south that will drive the growth and prosperity of our city.”

What’s Coming to Goodland?

Goodland is being brought to life by Dallas-based real estate development firm Provident, known for creating some of North Texas’s most celebrated places (including Preston Hollow Village and Tavolo Park). In addition to charming new homes near DFW, residents can look forward to a long list of amenities, including:

  • Shops, restaurants and conveniences
  • Gathering spaces and year-round events
  • 15 Miles of trails for walking, running and biking
  • A stocked pond and preserved green spaces

And with Goodland Parkway set to open in December 2026, the community will be seamlessly connected to the rest of Grand Prairie, making it easy to enjoy everything this vibrant place has to offer.

A New Texas Town in the Making

Goodland isn’t your typical master-planned community. As Provident Managing Director Rylan Yowell puts it, “This is not the sprawling suburbs of northern DFW. This is a new Texas town in the making with a new pattern of life. We’re excited to bring this community to Grand Prairie; it’s the perfect place to bring our vision to life.”
